<title>May Day - Earlsdon Street Best of British Celebrations </title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Earlsdon to celebrate The Best of British on May Day! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Earlsdon will be turning Red, White &amp;amp; Blue for its Monday May Day Celebrations as it extends a warm welcome to friends old on Monday 2nd May . The theme of the day will be the 'Best of British' to tie in with both the traditional May Day celebrations and the Royal Wedding! &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Kendall's Deli will be offering customers&amp;nbsp;a selection of the very Best British Cheeses this country has to offer that will include Coston Bassett Stilton, Cornish Organic Brie, Berskwell Ewes Sheep cheese, Welsh Black Bomber as well as&amp;nbsp;a whole host of other cheeses .&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Earlsdon Street the family friendly May Day Celebrations will take place from 11am -3pm including music from the local Dayspring Steel Band, Maypole Dancing and Morris Men performing in Earlsdon Street at 11am to kick off the event and get everyone in the mood for a celebration. West Midlands Fire Brigade will be on hand to give advice about safety and inspire young &amp;lsquo;wannabe&amp;rsquo; fire fighters. And, there will even be a troupe of local Egyptian Belly Dancers! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There will be activities at the following venues: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Earlsdon Street will have lots of stalls, a magician, face painting for children and of course many of its delightful independent shops and cafes will be open to welcome visitors. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Earlsdon Primary School From 11.30 onwards there will be lots of activities specifically aimed at children including tennis coaching, a Tae Kwon Do exhibition as well as stalls and games in the playground. All children are also invited to come in fancy dress with judging at 1pm in the Earlsdon School playground and this will followed by races and games organised by St. Barbara&amp;rsquo;s Scouts. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Earlsdon Methodist Church will host an art and craft sale/exhibition. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Criterion Theatre will have a spit roast and music. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;St. Barbara's Church will have tickets for sale for the Earlsdon Open Gardens and tea and cakes will also available. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;FREE TRANSPORT - To make travelling around the event easier de Courcey Travel are running a courtesy bus service around the area to cover all locations. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sam and Tilly from Tinderbox Toys said, &amp;quot;We have organised the event in a very short space of time and could not have done so without the support of several key groups and individuals in the community. It will be great to show off Earlsdon at its best!&amp;rdquo; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Diana Slocombe, event co-ordinator from NENA said, &amp;ldquo;We are very proud to be putting on a family friendly event with a host of activities, entertainment and stalls, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We want to bring back the community atmosphere to Earlsdon Street, which the old Earlsdon Festival provided in its early days and give local groups the opportunity to raise funds for their chosen charities&amp;quot;. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The event has been organised by the Earlsdon Traders Association and NENA (North Earlsdon Neighbourhood Association) and these two organisations have also joined forces with other local community groups including: Earlsdon Methodist Church, The Criterion Theatre, Earlsdon Open Gardens Scheme and St .Barbara&amp;rsquo;s Church to create an event that everyone can enjoy.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<title>Visit  Kendalls of Earlsdon Delicatessen for a taste of summer </title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;font size=&quot;3&quot;&gt;Local Earlsdon traders are launching their special week of sizzling summer shopping sales and promotions on Saturday 15 August 2009 10.30am-4pm,with a whole day of traditional summer activities for all the family to enjoy in Earlsdon Street.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The theme for the day is the traditional English seaside and folk from 2 to 92 are invited to come along to enjoy some good old fashioned fun in the shape of &lt;strong&gt;Punch and Judy performances&lt;/strong&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;face painting&lt;/strong&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;balloons&lt;/strong&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;quizzes&lt;/strong&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;pottery and mask making&lt;/strong&gt;. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Earlsdon Street shops and street stalls will be selling all sorts of quality foods, as well as some really lovely and unusual &lt;strong&gt;handmade goods&lt;/strong&gt;. For those that fancy themselves as &amp;lsquo;Strong Men or Women&amp;rsquo; there&amp;rsquo;s the chance to wield a huge mallet to make a bell ring! There is even a seaside frontage, a white &lt;strong&gt;Dove release&lt;/strong&gt; and the rare opportunity for a traditional game of &lt;strong&gt;Quoits&lt;/strong&gt; outside of Antiques of Earlsdon. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;To encourage everyone to get into the festive mood for this fun summer shopping experience, many of the independent shopkeepers will be decking out their shops with colourful bunting, some will be wearing &lt;strong&gt;traditional and whacky summer outfits&lt;/strong&gt; - and they are inviting any visitors to the street to dig out their sting vests, knotted handkerchiefs and &amp;lsquo;kiss me quick&amp;rsquo; hats too and come along to Earlsdon Street on Saturday! &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Live summer music&lt;/strong&gt; will be provided from 11am until lunchtime at Kendall&amp;rsquo;s of Earlsdon Deli by Howarth Brass - a talented family of &lt;strong&gt;local musicians&lt;/strong&gt; and any other players that would like to turn up with their instruments will be made welcome too. Visitors to the shop will be able to partake in some wonderful summer &lt;strong&gt;Cream Teas&lt;/strong&gt; - &lt;strong&gt;freshly baked fruit scones&lt;/strong&gt; with glorious fruity local Harvest of Arden preserve and delicious whipped double cream whilst being serenaded by &lt;strong&gt;live brass band summer music&lt;/strong&gt;. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Tilly Trowmans from &lt;strong&gt;Tinderbox Toys &amp;amp; Trinkets&lt;/strong&gt; has been very busy organising the event said, &amp;ldquo;&lt;em&gt;We all really want people to enjoy visiting their local shops, and the traders are working together to ensure we really give shoppers a good welcome and a positive shopping experience. Earlsdon has a fantastic range of vibrant, top quality, independent businesses. We are ALL committed to make shopping for quality goods a real pleasure for all the family and we want to support our community and many local producers too&lt;/em&gt;.&amp;rdquo; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Future fun to come...&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;br /&gt;This event is just the first of several being planned by the &lt;strong&gt;Earlsdon Traders Association&lt;/strong&gt;. Marcus Kendall, Chair of the Association said, &amp;lsquo;There will be lots more to come, we are also planning a Walk to the Earlsdon shops week during September, to encourage families to leave their cars at home and shop locally. Looking ahead to Christmas, we are determined to brighten Earlsdon up with festive lights and have started making plans to raise funds to help pay for this. Any money raised at Saturday&amp;rsquo;s event will be split between local charities and the fund for Christmas lights in Earlsdon.&amp;rsquo; &lt;/p&gt;
